n connection with the expansion of Päijät-Häme Central Hospital, we implemented a striking waterfall-style art installation on the hospital’s front courtyard in collaboration with High Metal. The architect-designed piece emerged from seamless teamwork, where we handled the water treatment technology, lighting, and technical design of the water flow.
The artwork’s frame is constructed from steel and clad in elegant granite stone. At its core are thick, fluted acrylic panels that create a glass-like, lightweight impression. We designed special fluting into the acrylic surfaces to ensure the most vivid, dynamic, and cascade-like water flow. Water cascades down the acrylic walls and falls through granite slabs into the lower basin, from where it is recirculated.
The project presented intriguing technical challenges, particularly the underground valve solutions and the long distance between the machine room and the fountain. The ensemble is completed by the RGB lights we installed in the basins, which produce striking light effects after dark.
